You’ve Got Me Tongue-Tied
The National Embroidery Awards 2025. Winner Free-Machine Embroidery!
You’ve Got Me Tongue-Tied is a love story between frogs. The hand embroidered frogs with wired stumpwork tongue and lily flower, pose on a wired, free machine embroidered bow. The pattern in the bow is inspired by the texture of a lily pad and includes sections of shimmering applique to represent water on the surface. My work is often centred around celebrating love and told through the perspectives of nature. I like to use bows as my canvas for their romantic connotations and historic cultural significances, for example “tying-the knot” means to marry and has origins in ancient Celtic customs.
